The official printer guy in 333 Cory is Phoebus Chen. Please notify him when the toner runs out so he can replace the toner.

Out of Printer Paper?

If the printers run out of paper, ask Maria Jauregui in 391 Cory for more paper.

Printer Setup

For Windows Machines

  • Install the printers from
    • \\print.eecs.berkeley.edu\lwc333a for automatic duplex printing to the left-hand-side printer
    • \\print.eecs.berkeley.edu\lwc333a_simplex for automatic simplex printing to the left-hand-side printer
    • \\print.eecs.berkeley.edu\lwc333b for automatic duplex printing to the right-hand-side printer
    • \\print.eecs.berkeley.edu\lwc333b_simplex for automatic simplex printing to the right-hand-side printer
  • If you
    • sit closer to the door than the "Mt. St. Helens" then
      • please send your prints to lwc333b,
    • sit closer to the espresso machine than "Mt. St. Helens" then
      • send to lwc333a

(this should reduce any starvation/overuse of the printers).

For Linux Machines (by Phoebus Chen)

Permissions for your username must be added to the print queue if they do not already exist

  • Send an e-mail to help@eecs to be added to the printers
    • print333a
    • print333a_simplex
    • print333b
    • print333b_simplex
  • If you
    • sit closer to the door than the "Mt. St. Helens" then
      • please send your prints to lwc333b,
    • sit closer to the espresso machine than "Mt. St. Helens" then
      • send to lwc333a

This seems to work too if one has Root privileges on RetHat: (from Mike Eklund)

  • Systems Settings: Printing
  • Press the "New" button
  • Forward past intro
  • Pick a name and short description, then
  • Forward again
  • Select queue type:
    • Networked Unix (LPD), server: Print, Queue: lwc333a or lwc333b,
  • Forward Click on select manufacturer, then HP and LaserJet 2300
  • Finish

  • The plotter paper is very expensive. Get permission from CHESS or TRUST admin staff before printing a poster.
