Berkeley UAV Fleet

These UAV systems share common key modules such as PC104 CPU board, radio modem, GPS and inertial navigation sensors. The following is the detailed specifications:

Ursa Minor 2

• Ampro Pentium MMX 233MHz Littleboard
• Systron-Donner MotionPak: high-accuracy 6 DOF inertial sensor
• NovAtel MillenRT2 GPS system (2cm accuracy)>
• Freewave 900 MHz wireless modems for data and DGPS(very reliable!!!)

Ursa Minor 3

• Real Time Devices MediaGX 233MHz PC104 board with DiskOnChip
• Boeing DQI-NP INS/GPS integration system
• Special drivers for DQI and NovAtel MillenRT-2 has been written by myself in QNX system.
• NovAtel MillenRT2 GPS system (2cm accuracy)
• Freewave 900 MHz wireless modem for data and DGPS(very reliable!!!)

Ursa Magna 2

• Lucent Technologies' WaveLAN
• a new member to our UAV system. Higher bandwidth, shorter range.
• NovAtel MillenRT2 GPS system (2cm accuracy)
• Freewave 900 MHz wireless modem for DGPS only(very reliable!!!)

BEAR has a outpost in Richmond Field Station operated by UC Berkeley in Richmond, CA. We have moved our lab facilities to the mission control post and the main warehouse. Life here? Well, harsh, but can't complain. We have a gorgeous view of San Francisco bay and company with wildlife!!
