Before we start, I'd like to make the usual disclaimer:

"All artwork featured on this page is purely for entertainment purposes. Any resemblance to any person living, dead or otherwise is purely unintentional and coincidental"
Its only recently that I started making potraits. This was done with the purpose of getting a little more disciplined with proportions and perspective. Without further ado, heres the list:

Potraits
  • R D Burman (The Thinker). This remains one of my favourite sketches. Mostly because it was so spontaneous. The whole thing took less than a few minutes to do. And the expression is priceless.
  • Smita Patil This may sound cliched but she has one of the most beautiful pair of eyes I know. Both this photo and Naseeruddin Shah's were taken from the casette cover of Nikaah / Bazaar.
  • Van Rijn Rembrandt (born 1606 in Holland). Even if I say so myself, I quite like this picture. The picture was from a sketch book I purchased. This is mostly where I get the photos from, casette covers, book covers, etc.
  • Naseeruddin Shah One of my favourite actors. Again, not much resemblance, but who cares? (well, me for one)
  • Waheeda Rehman Please dont try to make out any features. I am sure you wouldnt have got that its Waheeda Rehman unless I told you it was. The original photo was so beautiful.
  • S D Burman Unfortunately nothing special.
  • Guru Dutt You really have to convince yourself here. I have drawn worse.
  • M S Subalakshmi One my favourite things is to listen to the suprabhatam early in the morning.
  • Don't Know Who Speaks volumes when I say that even I forgot who this was supposed to be. ah well.
  • Yehudi Menhuin Something I found in my sketchbook.
Other "Serious" Art Some of these drawings were done in the first few weeks after coming here when I used to really "look" at things and try to get amazed by them. Nowadays, I am (unfortunately) completely blind to them.
  • A Young Shiva This is supposed to be Shiva doing the Tandava, the dance of death which destroys the entire universe. He is supposed to do this when he is extremeley angry. But I imagine that the sheer perfection of the dance will get him happy soon. I dont know any classical dancing, so I'm sure that the pose is all wrong.
  • Cutting Nails I was walking near Telegraph when I saw this woman cutting her nails. She was amongst the first of the hippies I'd seen. Black dress, pink hair, leather clothes, et al. She was trimming her nails with this enormous knife and I just stared. After a while she looked up with this tremendously blank stare which stayed with me.
  • Black man with Boom-box My first house was in Oakland and I kept seeing this very frequently.
  • Woman Singing This was another thing I saw soon after coming here. Again near Telegraph. She was just sitting there singing very loudly and happily. The surprising thing was that noone seemed to be noticing.
  • Waaah! Random senti sketch.
